OUTREACH - "Making disciples of Jesus Christ from all nations . . "
From the beginning, God has sought worshippers from every tribe and tongue on the face of the earth. Early on, he spoke to Abraham saying, "Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation and I will bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." That blessing for every group of people on earth, was delivered through Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, and a direct descendant of Abraham. After atoning for the sins of the world, the Lord Jesus commanded His followers, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
LOCAL OUTREACH
Servant Evangelism - We attempt to show God's love in a practical way with simple acts of kindness, and as we go, we pray for and seek opportunities to share the Good News. Among other things, examples of servant evangelism include free car washes, leaf raking, drink giveaways, distributing batteries, handing out "scotch" tape during the holiday season, and shoveling driveways! These outreaches take place independently or in association with short term mission training three or four times per year. Small groups are encouraged to participate and to initiate outreaches in their own neighborhoods.
Sports team outreach - At various times through the year, sports teams are occasionally treated to dinner and a movie at LEFC. The movies are usually connected to the sport in question and generally include a testimony or thought-provoking message.
Other outreach - Members are encouraged to share the Good News with family friends and co-workers. Service projectes like home repair and ladies car care day (for widows and single moms) happen with regularity.
